The CURRENT LADY will fish the Kachemak Bay, Cook Inlet, and Gulf of Alaska for a variety of species, including HALIBUT, SALMON, ROCKFISH, LINGCOD . This beautiful custom-built vessel is equipped with three Yamaha 425 hp outboard motors (that’s over 1200 hp!) along with some of the most sophisticated electronics and engine management systems in the fleet. She also has the Seakeeper Stabilization Gyro System which will help eliminate Sea-sickness by efficiently minimizing the side-to-side roll as much as 95%.The Seakeeper will increase your hours of effective fishing while making a huge reduction in your fatigue by the end of the day, whether from seasickness or rougher waters. Besides fishing, you will enjoy the beautiful scenery of Alaska, sea otters, puffins and other sea birds, quite possibly whales and other wildlife.

Each day is a different beauty of its own.

The CURRENT LADY:
8 fishing passengers max on salmon-only and salmon combo trips.
10 fishing passengers max on non-salmon trips.
$150 charge for a non fishing ride-along, up to 2 per trip per day. Must be approved before trip
departure.

Exclusive Full-Boat single party bookings are available. The party must understand that the vessel will not fish more than 12 Halibut or Rockfish rods at a time (4 when Trolling for Salmon), so rotating rods may be required. Additional fishermen, over the standard allowable maximum passenger (8 Salmon trips, 10 Halibut trips), may be added at a price of $300 per person. This must be approved by us prior to the trip departure.

Please call 907-299-6800 or email us so we can answer all your questions
on customizing your trip.

Rates are per person. Rates do not include sales tax.

A $25 per person fuel charge may be applied.

Our trip prices include fish cleaning by Buttwhackers. Fish processing is a separate service. We suggest using Homer Fish Processing or Coal Point Seafoods. Homer Fish Processing will pick up your fillets and take your processing order at Buttwhackers. Coal Point Seafood requires you bring fillets to them for processing.

Daily trips average 8-12 hours.

A valid Alaska fishing license must be purchased prior to your trip. Additionally, you may need a King Salmon Stamp. Your fishing license must be in your possession while you are fishing. They are available on-line at the Alaska Dept of Fish & Game website www.adfg.alaska.gov

Customers will meet their Captain at the bottom of Ramp 3 (only Blue Covered Ramp) on the Homer Harbor, Homer Spit Road.

HALIBUT FISHING

Dakota Ocean Charters will generally focus on large Halibut for much of the day, then if needed keep smaller fish to round out the limit during the last hour or two of fishing. Not every customer will catch a giant fish, but our Captains do put in the extra effort to keep trying. Some catch the fish of a lifetime on their first trip out, some fish for years and never do. It’s the feeling that the next bait you drop could be that monster that keeps fishermen coming back.

COMBO TRIPS

Combos are an excellent opportunity to fish for multiple species during a single day, and are ideal for fishermen who only have a single day to fish. Most return customers request our combo trips. Large Halibut are a bonus and are often caught on combos, but there is generally not much time for “sorting” fish. Dakota Ocean Charters will take you to a halibut hole during the optimum part of the tide so that they can be caught quickly, leaving ample time to fish for other species. Most Halibut caught on a combo are between 10 and 50 pounds. If fishing for a large Halibut is your primary goal, avoid Combos and book a Halibut-only trip.

HALIBUT/KING (CHINOOK) SALMON COMBO

The Homer Saltwater King fishery is often an angler’s “best bet” at hooking into a King Salmon while vacationing along Alaska’s road system. Fishing for Kings in the Homer area looks to be excellent for the upcoming season.

HALIBUT/SILVER (COHO) SALMON COMBO

Silver fishing can be fast and furious. Double and triple hookups are not uncommon when a school of Silvers is found. At times, the whole boat can catch a limit in an hour or two!

ROCKFISH/SALMON COMBO

An action-packed combo, this is a great alternative to the traditional Halibut trip. Neither species requires a long run, deep water, or large weights. If your idea of fun fishing doesn’t include heavy tackle and deep water of Halibut fishing, then this is the trip for you!

HALIBUT/ROCKFISH

Great to eat and easy to catch, Rockfish are often a welcome alternative to heavy tackle and deeper waters associated with Halibut fishing. It’s not uncommon for everyone on-board to be hooked-up at once when targeting Rockfish; making them an ideal target for the novice or young fishermen. Black Bass are the most commonly caught Rockfish, with Yellow Eye, Tiger Rockfish and Quillbacks and Dusky Rockfish being frequently caught as well.

TRIPLE COMBO TRIP

The Triple Combo Trip targets several species of fish: Halibut, Salmon and Rockfish.
